Planmeca's unique Intracam video camera range now covers a
state-of-the-art Station. The extremely compact size of the
Station allows installation to almost any desired location. It
is also possible to integrate the system in an ideal way to
virtually any existing dental unit. Intracam connected to the
Station is an intelligent solution for portable and stationary
intraoral video camera applications. Advanced features,
superior optics and portability elevate the system into a class
of its own.

Optics & image quality
|
|
|
quality The PM Intracam offers a true image
without mirror-imaging that characterises other cameras. The
fully optimized multi-lens precision optics eliminates
chromatic and geometric distortion by focusing all three main
colours to the same spot. As a result, clarity and colour
reproduction are excellent.
The focal range extends from micro to
macro and even to infinity so that there is no need to change
or add lenses, or employ a second handpiece. Intracam's single
multi-purpose optical tip has an exceptionally large depth of
field which eliminates the need for continuous refocusing
during an intraoral examination. Shielding elements like the
multicoded sapphire glass protect the optics and CCD-camera
from dirt. Intracam's automatic electronic shutter prevents the
blooming effect and over exposure of white surfaces.

Ease of use
|
|
|
The sliding focus adjustment allows the user to change focus
when necessary without moving the grip on the handpiece or
using the other hand to adjust the focus. As the instrument
tubing is light and flexible with no fibre optics inside, even
extended use is convenient and not fatiguing.

Hygiene
|
|
|
To ensure a high level of hygiene the Intracam and piece cover
is made of stainless steel and can be disinfected and wiped
clean. For ultimate hygiene plastic sleeves can be used without
compromising image quality

Lighting
|
|
|
A tremendous improvement in the uniformity of illumination has
been achieved by the unique 4-output light source which is
located inside the handpiece. A major advantage is that
Intracam operates without the fragile fibre-optic cord and
heavy protective tubing employed by conventional intraoral
cameras.

Concept
|
|
|
Conventional intraoral camera systems
contained a camera control unit and a light source that had to
be placed somewhere in the operating room. Their use also
implied a video printer and a monitor. These conventional
camera systems invariably took up a lot of space and were hard
to position making it difficult to create an ideal ergonomic
working environment.
The compact-size Intracam Station can be
mounted anywhere within easy reach. It can be connected to
external monitors, film printers, or to a computer. The Station
provides the voltages required for the camera and the light
source, as well as control for the cooling air.
The quick connector hose together with the
built-in technology of the PM Intracam unit enable you to
easily use the camera in several operatories alternately.

Installation
|
|
- Intracam Station can be fastened
vertically on a wall or in a cabinet.Alternatively, it can
lay freely on a counter top or inside the cabinetry.
- It is possible to use more than one
holder without wiring them to the Station. The smart
wireless holder enables an ergonomic stand-by position for
the camera. One camera - several holders!
- When the camera is removed from its
holder it is automatically turned on; the holder turns the
camera off when it is returned back to the holder.

Connections
|
|
- S-video and composite video outputs are
optically isolated, which enables the use of non-medical
grade video monitor. Station provides, as standard, a
possibility for a simultaneous use of S-video and composite
video outputs.
- Optically isolated RS-232 output
transmits the image live/freeze/save commands to the
computer framegrabber that captures images for the Dimaxis
imaging software.
- The image live/freeze/save functions can
be initiated by the Station foot control.

Networkability
|
|
|
The Intracam Station can be integrated into a
digital imaging network, which allows revolutionary
possibilities for image acquisition, viewing, manipulation,
transfer and storage. The network may include for example PM
Dimax digital panoramic and PM Dixi digital intra-oral x-ray
systems. PM Dimaxis imaging software provides extensive tools
for managing the x-ray and video images as well as other image
information acquired in the PM all in one digital imaging
system.
