Dimax2
Technical specifications
|
|
The possibilities of the Planmeca ProMax and PM 2002 Proline
panoramic x-ray units and the Dimax2 digital sensor system
expand far beyond standard maxillofacial x-ray imaging. The new
Dimax2 sensor system can be used for both panoramic and
cephalometric imaging and changing between imaging modes is
fast and easy. Dimax2 direct digital imaging system is the best
choice for panoramic and cephalometric imaging.

Dimax2 Digital imaging
|
|
The small and adjustable pixel size of the
CCD based digital sensor provides very high image resolution
with the highest detail recognition. The scintillator material
with very short decay time along with the exceptionally high
signal-to-noise ratio produce an excellent image quality with
maximum sharpness.

Real time imaging
|
|
The extremely fast image transmission to the
computer enables true real time panoramic and cephalometric
x-ray imaging. While the x-ray is scanning, the operator can
follow image acquisition from the computer screen. In case of
positioning error or patient movement during image acquisition,
the fault can be observed and the exposure stopped to avoid any
unnecessary dose to the patient.

Dimax2 digital cephalostat
|
|
|
Planmeca ProMax and PM 2002 x-ray units can
be equipped with digital cephalostatic arm and the Dimax2 Ceph
digital system expands the utility to direct digital
cephalometry. The digital cephalometric images can be directly
transferred to cephalometric analysis or surgical planning
programs. Just changing the place of the sensor head changes
the imaging modality from direct panoramic imaging to
cephalometric imaging. Due to the very unique software and the
wide dynamic range, there is no need for mechanical soft tissue
filter.
In conventional cephalometry, the entire
patient's head is exposed with a wide x-ray beam. Dimax2 Ceph
scans the patient's head with a narrow beam, which moves
laterally over the patient's head. Although the scan time is
approximately 10-17 seconds, the effective patient dose is
smaller than in conventional cephalometry.

Automatic double TMJ-program
|
|
Automatic double TMJ-program In PM 2002 EC
Proline there is an automatic double TMJ Program, which has
four characteristic views of the open and closed
temporomandibular joints. These are exposed on a single film,
thus enormously reducing patient dosage and film costs.

New dimensions in diagnosis
|
|
|
Dimaxis software package provides the user
with a wide range of image enhancement features that
dramatically increase the image information and its diagnostic
value. The image can be filtered or zoomed in to show the
smallest details, while the contrast and the density
adjustments allow emphasizing different diagnostic needs.
Dimaxis includes numerous tools such as distance, angle and
point-to-point measurements, image inversion, pseudocolours,
graphical histograms and a great number of additional
enhancement possibilities. Paste on symbols and text contribute
to very easy and quick image diagnosis. The automatic gamma
correction and equalization of Dimaxis produce optimum contrast
and density in the image.

Picture archiving and communication
|
|
|
The images are stored in TIFF or JPEG-format
in an image database on a hard disk or on a magneto-optical
device for long term archiving. Images can be hard copied by
laser printer, thermal paper printer or dry processing film
printer. Images can be viewed on PC viewing stations in
different operatory rooms via local area network and exported
to more distant locations connected to a communication
network. The open concept of Dimaxis enables to integrate a
practice management or any other third party software in the
system. Dimaxis is DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in
Medicine) compatible, which maximises benefits from Dimax2
x-ray system. The (DICOM) standard relies on network
connections and media devices that address the communication
and storage of digital images from different diagnostic
modalities such as digital radiography. Being compatible with
new equipment and systems the Dimaxis also keeps costs down.
Dimax2 is a seamlessly integrated part of Planmeca's all in
one dental information system.

All the imaging programs of Planmeca ProMax and PM 2002 CC
Proline can be performed with Dimax2 direct digital sensor
system.
